Can I send over all of my backlog to you?

We’d definitely love to help you out with your existing backlog! One caveat is that with a batch of projects, we won’t be able to guarantee our regular turnarounds. Learn more about how we handle turnaround on batches of projects as well as our suggested collaboration process in this video.

How long are your turnarounds?

Our turnarounds flex between 4 to 10 weeks depending on the season. We have a system of pre-booking where you can plan to send us projects before they happen, which can get turnarounds down pretty low even during the busy season. We’re typically booked out 1 to 2 months in advance, so the more notice the better. We do offer guaranteed delivery, but fees can apply, which scale based on how quickly your project has to be done.

Do I need to send the media on a specific type of hard drive?

Our only requirement here is that the drive works when you ship it off! The purpose of the hard drive that you send is simply to get the media here and back. One other thing worth mentioning is to make sure that you’ve properly backed up any media before shipping a hard drive. 

Do you keep media after a project is wrapped?

The media you mailed to us will remain on our archives until it’s safely back in your arms again. We’ll email you to confirm receipt. After we do, you’ll have 24 hours to let us know if you need us to hold onto it, otherwise we’ll go ahead and delete it. However, the project file and all assets will continue to live online in our shared folder.

Do you edit non-wedding projects?

Of course! We regularly collaborate on a wide variety of project types.  We’re always excited to explore new avenues and take on new challenges. Feel free to inquire about any project you’d like to collaborate on by sending us a message!

Do you do any audio enhancements?

Yes! Depending on the scope of the project we will doing everything from basic audio level, EQ, compression, all the way through noise reduction, reverb control, and other specialized audio editing techniques. Audio enhancing services can be added to any project, or we’re happy to provide it as an individual service.

Can I pay to start multiple projects at once?

Of course! You can even pay for entire projects up-front if you’d like. However, our ability to turn out quality edits on our standard turnaround is limited. If you’d like to pay the retainers for a batch of projects at one time, we’ll touch base on the correct ordering you’d like them completed, and then be in contact with you to plan out how we can turn them around in a timely fashion.

What forms of payment do you accept?

Our preferred payment method is bank transfers through our Quickbooks Online Invoice Portal. You can also mail a check made out to Archaius Creative with your hard drive if you prefer. You can also pay with a debit or credit card, however some fees may apply. If you’re interested in another form of payment, reach out to us and we’ll see what we can do.

Workflow


What editing platform do you currently use?

Our team is fully capable of taking on full scope projects in both Adobe Premiere Pro and Final Cut Pro X. For motion graphics and animation, we utilize Adobe After Effects and for some advanced audio mixing services, we’ll work in Adobe Audition. While we can transcode media and color grade in DaVinci Resolve, we don’t currently work in it as an editing platform.

Am I able to reopen a project after you’re done?

Yes, you can absolutely reopen a project once you’ve received it back! We’ll work in your preferred editing platform and provide all working files and assets needed to reopen and relink a project once we’ve completed our scope of work. Learn more about how we handle the transfer in this video.

How does the revision process work?

For revisions, we utilize the video collaboration site frame.io to upload drafts and communicate via timecode-specific markers and notes. Learn more about this process in this video.

How long do revisions take?

Since revision requests can span quite a range, from one or two shot changes, to replacing a music track that doesn’t fit, there’s no easy answer here. That being said, we have a personal goal of completing revision rounds as quickly and accurately as possible, and typically within 3 to 5 business days from receiving them.

Music


Do you provide music licensing?

We don’t provide licensing for the music in the film. As we work through a project, we utilize the preview or watermarked tracks in case you want to do a music swap later. Learn more in this video.

How do you swap in licensed music?

The music swapping process involves matching up the loudness and length of the watermarked track and the licensed track so that we can easily swap it into the project. Learn more in this video from our Audio Mixing Course.

What is the music selection process?

We handle music selection in several ways, each one varying in the added cost to the project. The options are: Song Options Sent For Your Approval—either from one platform or multiple—Song Options Sourced From Your Playlist, or Songs Provided By You. What if I want to change music after seeing the film?

You can absolutely change music at any time. Whether the change is included or an additional fee will depend on when we receive the request. Learn more about when it comes with an extra cost and how long it takes in this video.
